Museum on the European Route of Historical Pharmacies and Medicinal Gardens

Museum of Pharmacy in Łódź became a part of the European Route of Historical Pharmacies and Medicinal Gardens as the first such institution in Poland.

On 15-16 May, the First International Forum of Aromas Itinerarium Salutis, a project that creates a European Cultural Route of Historic Pharmacies and Medicinal Plant Gardens, was held in Valencia. The event opened with the formal acceptance of new members into the project and the presentation of certificates to them by the director Maria Luisa Vasquez de Agredos Pascual, among whom was also our Museum. The atmosphere of the proceedings that followed was enhanced by the surrounding greenery of the Botanical Garden of the University of Valencia.

Launched by the Council of Europe in 1987, the Cultural Routes demonstrate, by means of a journey through space and time, how the heritage of the different countries and cultures of Europe contributes to a shared and living cultural heritage. The inclusion of our Museum on the Cultural Route of the Council of Europe is a great honour, opening us up to international cooperation with similar institutions throughout Europe.

The Aromas Itinerarium Salutis – European Route of Historical Pharmacies and Medicinal Gardens is a Cultural Route of the Council of Europe since 2024.
